 A white, virgin world indicating purity of nature. Solar sea-salt, a present that nature creates by its great powers, the sun and the sea. The sun, Solar, gives its energy for the evaporating of the seawater and the sea gives the salt together with its minerals and trace-elements.
It is known that the first form of human life, the embryo, is growing in a fluid with the same composition as seawater! It is also known that life without salt is not possible! Obviously seawater contains vital elements for the creation of a new life and after birth salt plays a vital role in life.
But the main question is: What kind of salt is necessary to live a healthy life?

|  The world of salt is a mysterious world, probably as old as the world itself. Salt is found in the earth in tremendous quantities in deposits of more than 350 million years old. But also above the earth, in the form of mountains. Salt however is not a dead product, it is very much alive and each year freshly created on rocks, in lakes and lagoons and of course in the special solar sea-salt works. The way all this salt came that deep in the earth and e particularly above the earth, we have to accept it as a mystery of nature. But this is not the only mystery in the world of salt. Look at the picture of the freshly created salt; for sure you wonder what these mysterious colours mean in relation to the salt.
Following salt is a long story and the more we investigated its aspects, the more we discovered that salt has played a crucial role for the society. In the past it was used for the conservation of food and therapies and today it plays an important role as a ground material for the industry for more than 10.000 products.
Salt was always important for mankind and was called “The white gold”, while today it is considered to be as important as oil.
|  The world of salt has a lot to do with health. The human body contains a relatively big amount of salt (0.28% of its weight), which is necessary for the right functioning. This amount we have to keep on level every day, as we loose salt with the urine, sweat, tears and the reproduction of cells.
Salt is also used in medical care, but also the natural way for many treatments. Look at this picture, taken next to the solar salt works; so many people put their trust in the healing power of sea-salt and the condensed seawater.
So, how is it possible that salt, today, has such a bad reputation concerning our health?
Before, that means from the beginning of the civilization, salt was honoured as a gift of the Gods. It was used for food and therapy, this is well known, which means it was good for health. Is the salt changed during the last 100 years and does it not work anymore like in these old days?
This sounds a little strange. Mineral salt was created even 350 million years ago and solar sea-salt of today is still created with the water of the sea and the power of the sun. Maybe the salt, which has formed such a bad reputation, is not the pure and natural, but the one that has lost its power due to the chemical refining process?
It is time to investigate the subject “salt” more sincerely, as for sure, knowing which salt is necessary for our well functioning is of vital importance!
|  The world of solar sea-salt is a natural world, shared with the birds and not with chemical compounds or pesticides. This world is a unique piece of nature, where the Eco-system should be in balance in order to be able to create salt. It is not only the climate, the sun, the sun hours, the wind, the rainfall which are playing the important role. It is also necessary that the biological system is healthy, in order to help the evaporating and crystallizing process for the creation of a good quality sea-salt. Although you should think that in such a high salinity environment nothing will grow; you will find a rich life in micro-organisms, seaweed and shrimps, which are causing the red colour in the ponds and helping the evaporating process. They are also at the same time, food for the 150 species of birds and give the pink colour to the wings of the flamingos. Everything has to be in harmony. It is even said:
An optimal operation of the modern salt works is impossible without the maintenance, at the same time, of a healthy and stable Eco-system.
|  The world of solar sea-salt always indicates, as you can read on the signs, a protected area of international importance, recognized by the related organizations, the Ramsar convent and Natura 2000, especially for its rare population of birds of which some are endangered. The solar sea-salt works have much to offer for nature lovers, not only “bird watching”, but also special landscapes. In winter, you find in the dried ponds a kind of “moon surface”, due to the crystals of the gypsum and lime. These crystals by themselves are phenomena of nature growing their “leaves” and forming the so called “Rose”. During summer, the colour changes, from pink to flaming red are the attractions, which, together with the flamingos, are subjects for never ending photographing and painting.

|  The solar sea-salt crystals are in fact pieces of natural art, as their cubes and pyramids are put together by a game of nature. Each crystal, as you can see on the photo, has its own square lines, similar to the Meander lines which we see on many decorations of the Hellenic antique world. And as the salt crystals are sticking to objects, such as a lost feather or a twig, it is also possible for us to create our own art.

|  The world of solar sea-salt has since the beginning of civilization a mystical power. In ancient times salt was considered to be a present from the Gods, a blessing for men and animals and was even used by the Gods themselves.
In Christianity salt was standing for believe, trust, friendship and was used at the concluding of treaties.
Homer, the Hellenic poet and writer had written:
“Salt belongs to the sphere of divine and stands far above human”
Salt is strongly connected to the
well-being of the spirit and the body,
as it has the properties to clean,
to preserve, to cure but also to destroy
and these powers were always respected
since the beginning of civilization.
